Pokemon Genders

In the latest versions of TPPC, Pokémon have genders. These can be either Male, Female, Genderless ('G') or Ungendered (also known as (?) or 'U'). Generally, a Pokémon's gender appears in the same ratio as the handheld games, although there are exceptions to this rule.

Ungendered Pokémon

In older versions of TPPC, Pokémon did not have genders. When this function was added, users were given the choice to select a gender. If they did not, the Pokémon turned into an Ungendered variant / (?) by default. At the time of writing, this is no longer an option and old unselected Pokémon will be automatically assigned a gender on account re-activation.

In addition, specific (?) Pokémon used to be obtained via the Safari Zone Challenge and have been created for contest purposes. At the time of writing, Ungendered Pokémon are no longer obtainable except from contests or trading.

The male sprite is always used for a (?) Pokemon.

Ungendered Pokémon can’t evolve into evolutions which use gender as a requirement. For example, Kirlia (?) cannot evolve into Gallade as it requires a Kirlia M (but it can evolve into Gardevoir (?)).
