Eevee evolution guide (2023)

There is currently an RPG bug that requires eevee to survive to correctly evolve if it is holding an item (eg for eevee to evolve into vaporeon while holding mystic water, it cannot die or it will evolve into espeon/umbreon).

To workaround this, there are a couple of strategies:

Strategy 1: if you don't care about your eevee gaining exp - just defeat Evolva using your eevee (must be lv25 or higher)

Strategy 2: if you need to evolve an eevee without gaining exp, one off

  • spam toxic using your starter pokemon until the pokemon is two turns away from fainting. On the second last turn the pokemon should use hyperbeam and on the last turn when it recharges, switch eevee into the battle. This will prevent eevee from taking damage and it will evolve without gaining exp. If Evolva does not use hyper beam on the 2nd last turn, simply end the battle and restart.

Strategy 3: if you need to evolve many eevees without gaining exp

Strategy 2 is inefficient if you need to evolve several eevees at once. Instead, use the following strat:

  • train up a pokemon to around ~lv20-25.
  • attack Evolva using Chatter TWO times in a row so it has about 10-15% hp remaining. If it has more hp remaining, you can keep hitting it with Flatter so it hurts itself in its confusion.
  • with less than 15% hp remaining and ensuring Evolva is still confused, switch out to an eevee holding the held item (eg mystic water to evolve into vaporeon, charcoal for flareon, nevermeltice for glaceon, etc).
  • there is a 50% chance Evolva hurts itself and faints, causing eevee to evolve into glaceon without gaining exp or taking damage. Eevee cannot faint or it will turn into Umbreon
  • if Evolva does not die but your eevee dies, you can switch out to another eevee assuming Evolva is still confused. Otherwise if Evolva misses, snaps out of confusion or uses shadow ball, you will need to restart.

With practice you can clock 150 evolutions per hour.
